Ain’t Gon’ Hurt Nobody

Old hip-hop soldiers never die; they just high-top-fade away. But sometimes they return to throw an all-night house party. This Saturday, sometimes becomes nowtimes, and it’s not for just a plate of soggy Triscuits in a lean-to, but for the Ultimate House Party with Kid ’n Play at Studio 504 (504 NE 190th St., North Miami Beach). Polish up your funky Charleston moves, because Kid ’n Play will host the night, as well as perform a half-hour set. The dress code is “old-school ’80s and ’90s style,” but you could always just go as you are and claim that in the ’80s and ’90s, you were like 30 years ahead of fashion trends. Other than the weird janitor fired several years ago, no one actually lives at Studio 504, so this isn’t technically a real house party, even though the venue will be decorated as if it were. But the location is good news because it means no one will break into your house to turn the fish tank into a punch bowl (unless you tip off your neighborhood fish killers by Instagram-ing yourself with Kid or Play during the photo-op portion of the evening). Additional music will be provided by the duo’s longtime collaborator DJ Wiz and from Miami’s Iron Heart Sound.
