Orchid lovers are obsessive to a degree that surpasses any other group of collectors. Show them a rare Bornean and they practically wet their pants with appreciation, and who can blame them? With a beauty unmatched in nature and literally countless possibilities in blending species, orchids are the puzzle designed by God herself.

So if orchids are your thing — or you're looking to make it your thing — you might want to head to the Senator Gwen Margolis Community Center in North Miami for a lecture by Axel Cahiz of Amazonia Orchids. He'll discuss “Cattleya Culture” and generally dish all of his extensive knowledge of South American orchids.

There will also be a raffle for orchid plants, sale of orchid supplies, member show tables, and refreshments because plant loving makes all of us thirsty.
