It’s another weekend of cruising in your Cadillac Eldorado, a dulling set of steak knives on the passenger seat and, rattling in the cup holder, the last little bit of severance pay from your real estate job swindling unsuspecting buyers. “Why,” you moan between cuss words and vague misogyny and xenophobia, “is there not a Pulitzer Prize-winning play that speaks to my unique set of interests?” The knives, who normally only speak to tell you which strangers are secretly your enemies, say, “Ah, but there is! It is Glengarry Glen Ross and a new production is currently up at the Main Street Playhouse (6766 Main St., Miami Lakes).” Your GPS harrumphs at those goody-goody knives, but agrees: “Nearly three decades after its London premiere, this intense and darkly comic look at the underbelly of masculine competition is still wowing audiences around the world. This particular production features a cast of all-local South Florida actors. By the way, are you aware how many antibiotics and hormones are injected into most commercially available beef? Not to mention the environmental impact?” The steak knives glower, waiting on their opportunity for revenge. And scene!
