A Very Hockey Hanukkah

Whether you’re a member of the tribe or have just lived in South Florida long enough to be savvy about religions other than Christianity, you likely know that Hanukkah begins Wednesday at sundown. This year, the annual Jewish festivities will overlap with Thanksgiving, sure to make for some strange pairings: latkes and turkeys, dreidels and dressing — you get the idea. But that’s not the only unexpected Hanukkah add-on this holiday season. You can watch our local kitties on skates (AKA the Florida Panthers) take on the New York Rangers, along with enjoying a menorah lighting, kosher food, and lots of other festive stuff, at Chanukah On Ice at the rink. It’s sure to blow your “hockey is for Canadians only” misconceptions way out of the water. Or, at the very least, the chilly air inside the arena will put you in the holiday spirit — no matter which holiday you celebrate.
