For the past month, the New Times family has been fumbling to pull ourselves back together. We’re a tough group of people, but when we lost one of our own to a fatal accident in late August, we were suddenly reminded how human and fragile we are. David Dubrow was one of the brightest, kindest, most genuine people to walk our office hallways. We miss hearing his voice from across the room and hearing his feet shuffle across the concrete floor of our office — no doubt en route to deliver the latest news about his favorite rapper. On August 30, we said our goodbyes and we cried and mourned, but now, in true New Times fashion, we honor David with a drink. This Thursday at 6 p.m. at Wood Tavern (2531 NW Second Ave., Miami), please join New Times staff, the Dubrow family, and the rest of his extended Miami family at a benefit for David Dubrow. Expect drinks, raffles, a silent auction, and a celebration of David’s bright life. All proceeds will benefit the Connecticut Burn Center (bridgeporthospital.org/burncenter), where David received topnotch care. Everyone is welcome, and the event is free to attend. See you there for a toast to life.
