There are plenty of budget-friendly activities any given day, like free movies, yoga classes, museums, jazz concerts, and farmers' markets. Here are 31 ways to spend any day totally gratis and totally entertained. 

31. Bike, Run, Walk, or Admire the Venetian Causeway
The greatest mainland-to-beach pathway is back in operation. A near three-mile loop offers a postcard-like skyline that — whether you're a tourist or a lifelong local — never gets old. The Venetian is pedestrian-friendly, making it perfect for an afternoon bike ride, run, jog, or leisurely walk. The best part is there's no cost (unless you're in a car — then you're out $1.75).

30. Run in Homestead

Every Tuesday, the Homestead Run Club meets at Homestead Hospital at 7 p.m. for a 3.5 mile sprint. Free bottled water is provided, and first-timers are welcome. 975 Baptist Way, Miami; 305-224-4572.

29. Attend a Drum Circle
Spend an evening with music, dancing, and lots of drums in celebration of the full moon. NE 79th Street and Collins Avenue in Miami Beach.
28. Go on a Full Moon Bike Ride
Forgo the drum circle during the next full moon for a 15-mile bike ride instead. The Shark Valley loop in Everglades National Park is open for rides every full moon. Shark Valley Loop Road, Miami; 305-221-8455, nps.gov.

27. Go to an Improv Class
Command the stage with your best jokes at the Palmetto Bay Library's weekly improv class at 7 p.m. 17641 Old Cutler Rd., Palmetto Bay. 

26. Hang Out With Cows and Pigs at a Farm
Visit Bill Graham’s Farm Village at Amelia Earhart Park and see horses, ponies, cows, pigs, sheep, geese, and chicken. There's an old-style general store too. 401 E. 65th St., Hialeah; 305-685-8389; miamidade.gov.

25. Take a Breather With a Meditation Class
Disconnect from everyday chaos with a stress-relieving and energy-renewing meditation class offered every Thursday night at the North Miami Public Library. No registration is required, and all ages are welcome. 835 NE 132 St., North Miami; 305-891-5535; northmiamifl.gov.

24. Go Behind the Scenes at the Adrienne Arsht Center
Every Monday and Saturday at noon, the Adrienne Arsht Center takes guests on a tour through its theaters, with a history lessons mixed in along the way. 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami; 305-949-6722; arshtcenter.org.
23. Stroll Through Flower Gardens 
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden offers daily garden and flower tours. Wednesdays and Saturdays, there's yoga in the garden too. Admission is free, but there's a suggested donation of $5 for tours. 10901 Old Cutler Rd., Coral Gables; 305-667-1651; fairchildgarden.org.

22. Something Is Probably Happening at Books & Books, and You Should Go
It would take too long to list the many events, such as book signings, author talks, and writing classes, that Books & Books hosts at any of its three locations. So just know there's a good chance an event is happening today and any other day. booksandbooks.com.

21. Explore Downtown via Metromover 
That weird, above-ground train you see in downtown Miami is called the Metromover. Hop on it and get a free tour of Brickell, Bayfront Park, and the financial district. It beats walking and gives you a few minutes of air-conditioned glory. 

20. Visit the Florida Room at the Main Library
Here you'll find some of Miami's rarer history items on display. It's not automatically open to the public, so you'll have to ask a librarian for permission. 101 W. Flagler St., Miami; 305-375-2878; mdpls.org.
19. See the View at South Pointe Park
Experience an unobstructed view of the Atlantic Ocean from Miami Beach's southernmost tip. 1 Washington Ave, Miami Beach.

18. Spend the Day in Nature 
Hang out at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden and enjoy its lush plants, flowers, and landscaping. Admission is always free, and the garden offers a self-guided tour. 2000 Convention Center Dr., Miami Beach; 305-673-7256; mbgarden.org.

17. Explore the Holocaust Memorial

16. Free Concerts at Hialeah Park
Every Saturday night, the Fountain Terrace at Hialeah Park hosts a free concert featuring a different live band. Showtime is 8 p.m. rain or shine. 100 E. 32nd St., Hialeah.

15. Express Yourself at an Open Mike
Take the stage or watch others perform spoken word, poetry, rap, comedy, song, or dance at FIU Miami Beach Urban Studios' monthly open-mike series. 420 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach; 305-535-1464, mbus.fiu.edu.
14. Bike Along During Critical Mass
Grab a bike and explore Miami's streets with one of the largest cycling groups in town. Rides take over the 305 the last Friday of every month. themiamibikescene.com.

13. DIY Historical Tour of Miami
Download this map and off you go to explore Miami's most historic buildings, architecture, and neon-lighted art deco signs. As you explore, stop by a SoBe bar or two for a cold beer and a snack. 

12. Spend Friday Night at Viernes Culturales
Visit Little Havana the last Friday of every month and watch the streets come alive with art, music, and a lot of culture. viernesculturales.org.

11. Give Back
Choose something you're really passionate about — like education, children, politics, service, or animals — and find a local agency in Miami that specializes in it. Most organizations have ways of giving back, from afternoon activities to day- or weeklong programs. The City of Miami Beach offers a range of ways to get involved with various programs. Zoo Miami welcomes animal-loving volunteers. And United Way encourages anyone to chip in, even if it's just for an hour one afternoon. 
10. Hang Out at a Museum
The first Thursday and second Saturday of every month, admission to Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is free. The Wolfsonian-FIU is free every Friday night; the Bass Museum of Art is free the last Sunday of every month from 2 to 4 p.m.; HistoryMiami is free all day the second Saturday of each month; and the Jewish Museum of Florida is free every Saturday. 

9. Watch a Movie Outside

8. Unleash Your Inner Yogi
Miami offers free hourlong yoga sessions nearly every day of the week. At 7 a.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m., Third Street in Miami Beach provides free classes catering to all levels. Bayfront Park also offers complimentary yoga Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. In Coconut Grove, head to Peacock Park every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. and to the Mayfair Hotel rooftop every Saturday at 8 a.m.

7. Live Jazz at MOCA
Music lovers, rejoice! The Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami offers free jazz concerts the last Friday of every month beginning at 8 p.m. Concerts are free, rain or shine, and the museum is open by donation too. 770 NE 125th St., North Miami; 305-893-6211; mocanomi.org.
6. Roam a Farmers' Market
On any given weekend, dozens of farmers' markets across Miami offer the freshest and brightest fruits and vegetables grown right in our backyard. Wherever you are, there's a good chance a market is nearby. 
5. Spend the Night at an Art Walk
Let packed streets, open galleries, and an overabundance of art entertain you. Nearly every one of Miami's main neighborhoods — from Wynwood and Coral Gables to even Bird Road — hosts a monthly art walk. 

4. Attend a Fitness Class to Get Your Beach Body Ready
Forget high-priced strength and cardio classes. The City of Miami Parks & Recreation Department offers free fitness classes at numerous parks around town. Tuesdays at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., Armbrister Park (4000 Grand Ave., Miami; 305-442-0376) offers back-to-back low- and high-intensity bootcamp classes. Elizabeth Virrick Park (3255 Plaza St., Miami; 305-461-7213) holds bootcamp Wednesday nights and dance classes Saturdays. And Moore Park (765 NW 36 St., Miami; 305-960-5167) offers dance and chair classes Mondays and Wednesdays.
3. Go to the Beach, Because Spring Break Forever
Sunny skies and warm temperatures. It is always spring break in Miami, which means you should be at the beach right now (if you're not already). There's myriad public-access beaches, including Haulover (10800 Collins Ave., Miami Beach), Bill Baggs Cape Florida (1200 S. Crandon Blvd., Key Biscayne), Lummus Park (Fifth to Fifteenth Street east of Ocean Drive), Surfside (9301 Collins Ave., Miami Beach), and North Beach (50th Street east of Collins Avenue, Miami Beach).

2. Go Outside Anywhere 
It sounds too good to be true, but it's not. Miami is paradise after all, so grab a book (or a smartphone), walk outside, find a tree, and sit under it. There's a good chance the sun is shining (and if it isn't, it probably will be out in about 15 to 20 minutes), meaning it's the perfect time to take an outdoor break. Take advantage of the near-perfect weather and feel lucky that walking outside is even a thing (because what is winter?).

1. Get Distracted by People-Watching
If Miami is good for one thing, it's diversity. The Magic City is a cultural melting pot, and we're damn proud of it. But pride aside, it makes people-watching that much more fun. Simply step outside and you'll have a front-row seat to foreigners, partygoers, foreign partygoers, and more.
