Thursday night, Food Network personality Rachel Ray hosted the third annual Amstel Light Burger Bash at the Ritz-Carlton, South Beach. Former Top Chef contestant Spike Mendelsohn took home the top prize.
Things got extra sweet for the opening of Confection at Our House West of Wynwood. Organized by Pres Rodriguez, the charity bake sale art exhibition raised money for the Daily Bread Food Bank and featured performances by Waterford Landing, Remote Controllers and Dino Felipe.
Saturday, four local bands -- Afrobeta, Jacob Jeffries Band, Minimal, Tristan & The Juice -- competed in New Times' Groove On Battle of the Bands at Gulfstream Park. Afrobeta and Tristan & The Juice won the first round to move on to the finals February 27.
