The World Cup kicks off today and for the next two weeks, soccer fans across the world will be cheering and screaming at the TV-screen like caged hyenas. The U.S. has now joined those ranks as homes and bars across South Florida gear up for the match up between the UK and US on Saturday at 1p.m. Where will local Brits be spending the next few weeks. "I'll probably head over to Waxy O'Connors on South Beach," says Kieran Mcguinness. "They have a central bar with a huge screen". It's all about the screen and of course, the beer....

Back in England Kieran would have hit the local pub to consume mass quantities of Newcastle, Kronenbourg, and Guinness. What about food? "Eatin' is Cheatin'" Kieran says with a laugh. You may stop in for a curry as you stumble home, but unlike American Superbowl parties, the food is an afterthought.

Fortunately for those of us who need to eat to counterbalance the pints of beer on Saturday, Waxy O'Connors is serving up some UK favorites like sausage rolls and beans with fries and of course, chicken curry with rice. They'll also have plenty of beer specials for Kieran and other crazy Brits. The doors open at 7.30 a.m, the alcohol starts flowing at 8 a.m. and will continue until 5 a.m.
