Pollo Tropical is celebrating the official grand opening of a new South Florida location on Friday, July 6 and you're invited to stand in line for a year's supply of chicken.
The first 100 people in line by 10 a.m. on July 6 at the new restaurant, located at 12000 NW Seventh Avenue in North Miami, will be in the running for a chance to win free Pollo Tropical for a year.
Before you start thinking of ways to eat Pollo Tropical for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the next 365 days in order to pay off that credit card bill, think again.
The "free pollo for a year" consists of 52 Pollo Tropical "Be Our Guest" cards, each one good for a choice of sandwich or wrap combo, small TropiChop, or quarter chicken with two sides.
In other words, if you win, that averages to one free meal a week -- or a one month long chicken-eating binge.
Besides the free-food-for-a-year, the restaurant is celebrating all day
with a beach party theme. At 10:30 a.m., the festivities start with the
official ribbon cutting by the mayor, followed by the drawing for the
free meal-for-a-year.
A robo-surfing competition, which will
benefit a local North Miami charity will be held at 12:30 p.m.,
featuring local media celebrities, to be announced. Each media celebrity
will take their turn on the robo-surfer, which is sort of an aquatic
mechanical bull, with the winner's charity of choice receiving $1,000.
In addition, "like" the restaurant's Facebook page and get a coupon for a free TropiChop or quarter chicken meal to use at the North Miami location.
This
location is the first Pollo Tropical to open in Miami-Dade since 2007. Another Pollo Tropical opened in Greenacres in Palm Beach County two weeks ago. When asked whether this was the start of a new string of Pollo Tropicals
to open, a Pollo Tropical representative declined to comment.
