Sweet Dogs: Try the Mac and Cheese Hot Dog
After eating healthy all year -- nearly three weeks! -- we just had to give in to temptation. The Super Bowl is around the corner and junk food is on our minds. It's time to trade in those salads and surrender to the ultimate guilty pleasure: a hot dog.
Thankfully, Sweet Dogs in Flagami serves up some outrageous dogs with decadent toppings, including one with macaroni and cheese.

The mac dog ($5.50) features macaroni and cheese, parmesan cheese, and garlic croutons. (Croutons means this meal qualifies as a salad, right?) It's one of Sweet Dog's most popular sides. It features five cheeses, including Velveta (take that, shortage). It is gooey, carb-loaded, and slightly garlicky.
The dogs themselves are kosher quarter-pound Nathan's franks that can ordered boiled, grilled, or deep-fried. Bonus: Each dog comes with a mini chocolate bar for dessert.
Since hot dogs are the unofficial food of the sports-observing, several of their dressed-up dogs are named after our home teams.
Our favorite was the Dolphins dog ($6.50). It features grilled ham, smoked bacon, melted mozzarella, pineapple, "home sauce," and papitas. It was like a hot dog mixed with a Cuban sandwich, Hawaiian pizza, a frita, and those crazy Colombian dogs. It was sweet, savory, and crunchy.
To break your New Year's resolution and for some seriously good hot dogs, head to Sweet Dogs. They serve so much more than frankfurters in buns. These dogs are dressed to the nines.
