Snapshots From Last Night's Signature Chefs & Wine Event

Last night's Signature Chefs and Wine Extravaganza at Jungle Island to raise money for the March of Dimes is deserving of some commentary, so without further ado:

The award for the most unexpected dish goes to Michael Bloise from American Noodle Bar (ETA early November) for his yummy cheeseburger dumplings with curry mayo.

Kudos to Timon Balloo from Sugarcane for his local snapper crudo. It seems he's ready for this weekend's Ceviche Throwdown.

We wish Por Fin had stuck to tradition, however. Its "Spanish take" on sushi, made with roast pork and chicharrones, left us feeling like a fish out of water.

Thankfully, Edda's came to the rescue with this adorable Cookie Monster cake and slices of sugary decadence.

Speaking of smiles, we can always count on Chef Ralph Pagano from STK to provide one. (And we are still feeling some warmth from the Scotch bonnets he hid in his short-rib selection.)

No shortage of food here! Thanks, Fogo de Chao, for not cheapening out. These folks know how to fill a sample plate.

And the Rosa Mexicano chefs know how to fiesta! So what if they served only guac and chips? Their table was decorated better than any we've seen at one of these types of events.

The March of Dimes members seemed especially thankful to chef Michael Jacobs for persuading the Food Network's Sunny Anderson to host the event. Both worked hard to remind people that the organization is worthwhile.
