It's the moment you've been waiting for all year. No, not football season and the chance to see the newly renamed and renovated Hard Rock Stadium, complete with shade canopy and HD video screens.
It's the Miami Dolphins-themed Publix sub that's got hearts aflutter.
Last year, the Lakeland-based supermarket chain introduced a series of four NFL-themed subs, each representing teams that have a partnership or sponsorship agreement with Publix.
The subs return this year and, according to a rep for the market, will cost $7.99 for a whole and $5.99 for a half.
Other teams represented are the Atlanta Falcons, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The subs will feature Boar's Head deli meats and whatever unicorn tears Publix uses to make its subs so freaking good.
Here's the lineup:
Miami Dolphins Sub
The sub starts with Boar's Head chipotle chicken and then adds fried plátanos maduros and peach mango salsa for a sweet and spicy experience.
Atlanta Falcons Sub
Hot maple-flavored chicken tenders are topped with bacon. As a nod to Georgia, peach preserves are added. Finally, a touch of sriracha mayonnaise gives the sandwich balance.
Jacksonville Jaguars Sub
Hot chicken tenders, bacon, and cheddar cheese are smothered in sweet coleslaw and barbecue sauce as a tribute to Jacksonville's fascination with barbecue.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sub
Last year's jerk turkey has been replaced with Boar's Head Sausalito turkey. Chipotle Gouda, guacamole, and peach mango salsa are added. Finally, there's a garnish of plantain chips for crunch.
Though the ingredients in some of the subs sound a little random, each sandwich was created in collaboration with the respective team and Publix's meals department.
The subs are available now through football season.
