Pubbelly Team Taking Barceloneta to South Miami
The team behind the Pubbelly quartet of restaurants in Miami Beach is bringing their growing empire to the mainland and is planning another Barceloneta, their Spanish tapas concept, to South Miami.
The team in late September filed papers with the state forming Barceloneta Management Group, LLC and Barceloneta South Miami LLC, at 5850 Sunset Drive in South Miami. None of the so-called Pubbelly Boys -- Andreas Schreiner, Jose Mendin and Sergio Navarra -- are listed on the South Miami location. Schreiner's name is listed on the management group documents, along with a Manuel Suarez-Inclan Jr., who's also a partner on the South Miami documents and at the original Barceloneta.

Schreiner confirmed the opening this morning. A couple of weeks ago posted a picture of him and two others in hard hats on Instagram. Chef Juliana Gonzalez, of the original Barceloneta, will run the kitchen along with sous-chef John Gallo. Schreiner said the restaurant is to open in about two months and will offer brunch a few months after opening.
Pubbelly, along with Purdy Lounge, over the last couple of years seemed to breathe new life into South Beach's quiet Sunset Harbour neighborhood. The addition of Pubbelly Sushi and Barceloneta No. 1 added more buzz and foot traffic to the neighborhood. Wynwood favorite Panther Coffee, in the Sunset Harbour parking garage, should help.
Hopefully the team can breathe some new life into the area around Sunset Place.
