Miami's Best Eats and Drinks This Weekend: Sweet Bike Run, Free Tacos, and Mango Festival

Miami is bursting with great weekend activities for every taste and budget. If you're looking to try something new, there are two great places celebrating their grand openings Friday (one is even giving away free tacos and beer). Speaking of beer, there are two events that prove once and for all that beer can pair well with culture.

If you're feeling sluggish after being sedentary at a desk all week, Emerge Miami's sweet treats bike ride will lead you on a scenic tour of the city — with stops at bakeries and ice-cream shops along the way.

Finally, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden's annual International Mango Festival returns.

Weekend starts now!

Wapo Taco Opens
Straight from Mexico City (by way of Hallandale Beach), Wapo Taco opens its second South Florida location Friday, July 10, at 2526 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Coral Gables. The 2,000-square-foot, 80-seat location will offer chicken and pork al pastor, freshly made guacamole, and tortillas made on the spot. To celebrate, the restaurant is offering free pastor tacos and Mexican beer from 7 to 9 p.m. opening day. That's one heck of a way to woo the neighborhood.

9beach Fusion Kitchen & Lounge Bar Opens
South Beach meets Tel Aviv when 9beach Fusion Kitchen & Lounge Bar opens tonight, July 10. The restaurant, located at 1628 Collins Ave., is a gorgeous mix of golden opulence and rock 'n' roll edge just steps from the beach. The 3,300-square-foot restaurant also boasts a 5,000-square-foot patio for outdoor cocktailing. Chef Tal Aboav from the original Tel Aviv location has designed a menu of mostly Mediterranean offerings, and signature cocktails include a raspberry ginger collins, mango whiskey sour, and coco nib old-fashioned.

Emerge Miami's Sweet Treats Bicycle Ride
Here's a guilt-free way to enjoy all the goodies you want — combine your sweet tooth with a bicycle ride. Emerge Miami is hosting its sixth-annual Sweet Treats bicycle ride this Saturday, July 11. You'll meet at the Government Center Metrorail station (101 NW First St.) at 10 a.m. and then scope out some of Miami's best bakeries and ice-cream parlors. The ride hits Bunnie Cakes, Fireman Derek's Bake Shop, Lulu's Nitrogen Ice Cream, and Colony 1. Bonus: Most of the stops have vegan and gluten-free options. In total, you'll ride a little more than eight miles between goodie breaks — just enough to burn those calories you're eating. Bring your bike (natch), some cash for treats, and a bunch of friends. To RSVP, visit Emerge Miami's event page on Facebook or emergemiami.com
