Miami's Best Eats and Drinks This Weekend
Easter. It's a time for bloody cocktails.
Easter weekend is upon us and that means it's a time for renewal, spring, family... and the season finale of The Walking Dead. Whether you want to take the kids for brunch and an Easter Egg hunt, or you want to hoist a few free drinks to start the weekend, here's what we'll be doing this weekend.
Shots Miami via Facebook.
The Drinks Are on Us
Did you hear? Miami New Times has officially made the move to Wynwood. That obviously means a "housewarming" party is in order. So we're taking the crew over to Shots Miami this evening for cocktails -- and you're invited.
All you have to do is download our free Happy Hours app, show it at the
door and you're in! Free drinks and $3 specialty shots happen tonight,
March 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. And if you haven't been to Shots Miami be
prepared to do some interactive shots. What's an interactive shot, you
say? Well ... they sometimes involve specialty head gear, secret passwords,
and blow up dolls. Can you say awesome?
But, as they say, Serfer's sleep issues are Miami's gain because we now
have a place to eat fried chicken and fresh oysters well after
midnight. Danny -- you keep cooking. We'll forever hide the Sominex.
Humane Society of Miami
Drinking Has Officially Gone to the Dogs
never fails: Every time we get together, the iPhone comes out and we
share pictures of our babies. Our fur babies, that is. In fact, we won't
name who, but one of our writers set up a Facebook page for their
Chihuahua. But for every pampered pup living a life of luxury, there
are others who are still waiting for their fur-ever home. Want to help?
Head out to the fourth annual Spankyfest in Coconut Grove on Saturday,
March 30. It's a pub crawl that benefits the Humane Society of Greater
Miami. You'll make friends, drink beer, and help pups and kitties in
Candy..with brandy. Not for the kiddies.
The Easter Bunny Just Grew Up
Why do kids have all the fun? It seemed unfair to us that children get Easter baskets filled with fluffy stuffed chicks, chocolate bunnies, colored eggs, and marshmallow Peeps. We say it's time to take back Easter for the grownups and we're starting with the basket. What does one put in an adult basket? Here are our 21-and-over suggestions.
It doesn't matter if you're taking the family to a big dress up brunch or you just want to have some mimosas with friends. Our insanely long list of Easter brunches has something for everyone -- egg hunts for the kiddies, traditional meals with all the fixings for mom, and plenty of Bloody Marys for you. So hop to it and make your reservations now!
Walking Dead Watch Party
Easter Sunday is all about blood, death, and resurrection. That's right kids! We're talking about the much anticipated Walking Dead finale. Will Rick and the Governor have a final battle? Will there be a zombie wedding? And how many walkers will Michone kill this time? You're going to need a drink while watching. We suggest the awesome Walking Peep cocktail, created by Bloom's Jaren Rivas. Never before has a Peep been so creepy.
