The rain might have put a damper on your weekend, but don't let that ruin your Monday. Coconut Grove's La Bottega is calling ladies from all professional backgrounds to sip some prosecco and network this Monday night, rain or shine.
Tuesday, try El Cielo's new "Comfort Fooood" lunch menu, designed by celebrity chef Juan Manuel Barrientos. Catch chef Adrianne Calvo of Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant & Wine Bar at Books & Books Wednesday chatting about her latest book, Play With Fire. And end your week at Dadeland's World of Beer with a good old-fashioned game of bingo mixed with a few of WOB's best brews.
Monday
Women's Happy Hour at La Bottega
Sorry, boys — this Monday is all about the ladies at La Bottega in Coconut Grove. It's time for the eatery's monthly women's networking happy hour, where South Florida gals can meet, share ideas, and promote their businesses. Attendees can also chat with guest speaker and vice president of corporate and community relations of Republica Marketing Comp, Wendy Grant, who has spent more than 20 years as an adviser to state and national leaders, including Jeb Bush. And as any happy-hour-goer would expect, a complimentary glass of prosecco will be provided upon arrival, and the restaurant's wine bar, with more than 30 wines by the glass, will be offered half-price from 5:30 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 305-444-3493.
Tuesday
New Comfort Fooood lunch menu at El Cielo
We all love comfort food, and El Cielo's Juan Manuel Barrientos has designed an à la carte lunch menu named just that. His "Comfort Fooood" gives busy Brickell professionals the experience of his beloved dinnertime dishes in a fraction of the time. All Barrientos needs is your hourlong lunch break anytime between noon and 3 p.m. to serve you dishes such as cheese-and-plantain empanadas, ropa vieja croquetas, fries with white truffle oil, and spinach tortellini, as well as desserts like Nutella pizza or a white chocolate volcano. You might return to the office in a food coma, but you can't say it won't be worth it.
Wednesday
Chef Adrianne Calvo at Books & Books
Adrianne Calvo wears many hats: Cuban-American representative, chef, TV personality, restaurateur, and now best-selling author. When she's not toiling away at her West Kendall eatery or appearing on NBC’s 6 in the Mix, Calvo is probably writing. With two cookbooks published, she's now debuting her third at Books & Books this week: Play With Fire: Images and Ingredients That Ignite. Calvo joined forces with photographer Alain Martinez to create a risqué cookbook meant for couples to interact in the kitchen and make food in a fun and sexy way. At 7 p.m., she'll be around to discuss the inspiration behind the unconventional idea.
Thursday
Brewery Bingo at World of Beer Dadeland
Two words: bingo and beer. From 7 to 9 p.m., World of Beer Dadeland wants you to unwind from the workweek with a game of bingo and some tasty beer. The game is simple — it's like regular bingo, but instead of calling out numbers, they'll call out breweries. Every round, players have a chance to win $5 WOB gift cards. There's no limit on how many times a player can win, and if the game goes into overtime, you'll get yourself a beer shot for winning the round.
