Since pretty much everyone on the planet likes Italian cuisine, it would seem like a no-brainer to have an Italian food-themed truck, right? Well, apparently no one got that memo until recently when Patrick and Kimberly Murdock started Mangia Mia Italian Kitchen.
The Murdocks owned several Miami-based businesses before starting Mangia Mia, including Tavern in the Grove and Dog Charm Pet Grooming. Their fresh Italian food on-the-go specializes in meatballs, chicken parmigiana grinders ($6) , and arancinis ($6) risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella cheese and served with a side of meat sauce).
Meatballs are served three different ways. Meatball grinders ($8) are served on toasted hero bread, Smashers ($7) are meatball sandwiches on garlic bread, smashed on the grill. If you're not into bread, have your balls go commando ($7) with your choice of classic marinara, creamy parmesan or pesto sauce on the side.
Balls come in mangia ball (meat), fowl balls (chicken) or veg'ta (vegetarian). When you eat at the truck, make sure you tell them you want to be on their "Balls of Fame", where customers get their pictures posted on their website.
