"Eating clean” is a catchphrase known all too well in Miami. The Magic City is full of health-food enthusiasts constantly on the lookout for the latest in lifestyle inspiration, detoxes, and vegetarian recipes. Then there are others who see the idea of eating clean as a perfectly attainable goal, but when put to the test, it remains just that — a goal. Travel, business meetings, happy hours, and must-have brunches get in the way and make it difficult to live a healthy lifestyle.

But in just a couple of days, South Floridians will be able to change those habits when Sakara Life expands its presence in Miami November 1 with the launch of its organic, plant-based meal-delivery service that Victoria's Secret models such as Lily Aldridge and Erin Heatherton and celebrities like Iman, Lena Dunham, and Kate Mara swear by.

Sakara, meaning “with form” in Sanskrit, was founded in 2011 by Whitney Tingle and Danielle Duboise, childhood friends who grew up together in Sedona, Arizona, a wellness haven, as Tingle calls it. After making their way to New York City, Tingle, a former banker at Merrill Lynch, and Duboise, a former model and actress, decided to leave their body-image issues, unhealthy eating habits, and toxic environments behind and return to their roots to create Sakara Life.

“One of the main philosophies of Sakara Life and the business as a whole is 'thought to things' and empowering yourself to manifest your dreams and create what you think,” Tingle says. “Thought to things is something we really talk about a lot day-to-day around the office but also really try to bring to our clients and empower them.”

Through the use of fresh, nutrient-dense ingredients that are gluten-free, plant-based, dairy-free, and sourced locally whenever possible, their goal, more than anything, is to support clients in their health and spiritual transformation and help them feel good in their bodies, Duboise says. And with meals like toasted coconut granola with goddess milk for breakfast, Indian samosas with sweet and spicy chutney for lunch, and a red beet burger for dinner, all conveniently delivered to your home or office, this lifestyle change doesn’t sound all too bad. Plus, each dish is unique and comes with a fun name to match (i.e., Eat-the-Rainbow wrap).

Miamians will join residents of New York, Southern California, Boston, and Washington, D.C., on their quest for optimal health and wellness. “We’re hearing constantly on social media and getting requests for Sakara to come to South Florida,” Duboise says. “We also know what a focus Miami and South Florida residents have on health and wellness, and we think it’s just a perfect fit. As far as we know, there really isn’t a product that’s out there to meet this niche for people looking for meal delivery that provides these benefits, so we’re really excited to bring it.”

In addition to the one-day, five-day, and 20-day meal-delivery programs, South Florida will be the first region to exclusively offer Sakara Life’s all-new three-day program for $265. This is the most accessible of the meal options. “The reason we’re doing that is because with Sakara, a lot of it is about balance, really being able to eat this program for three days and then balance out your long weekend with travel, entertaining, social, or work obligations,” Duboise says. “It really provides that nice balance and centers out the week for you.”

So whether you are new to the clean-eating game or simply don’t have time to prepare these Instagram-worthy superfood meals, Tingle believes food should make you feel sexy, and Sakara Life does just that, she says.

“There’s oftentimes a challenge with food and an anxiety about what to eat every day,” she says. “It’s not only about getting rid of that anxiety but knowing what you’re putting in your body is really fueling you and is nutritionally designed, giving you the right nutrients to help you tackle what you need to tackle. It’s knowing what you’re eating and knowing it will make you feel good.”
