Latin Burger and Taco's brick-and-mortar restaurant is officially open on Coral Gables' Miracle Mile.

The restaurant's décor pays homage to both the original food truck and pop culture icons. The Texas-meets-Miami vibe features brown lizard-skin-embossed booths embroidered with the Latin Burger longhorn logo and industrial steel piping for door handles. Giant framed pictures of famous figures eating burgers grace the walls.

Owner Jim Heins says that since the restaurant opened, there's been a steady stream of people clamoring for the restaurant's signature Latin Macho burgers and tacos. Though fans of the food truck will recognize most of the menu, the menu has been expanded with quesadillas, milkshakes made with Dolci Peccati gelato, new sandwiches, and cupcakes by Sugar Yummy Mama. The restaurant also features a Coke Freestyle machine, where thirsty diners can create their own custom beverage from more than 100 choices. Heins says he'll also offer salads and beer in the near future.

In the meantime, Short Order was invited to taste some of the offerings at Latin Burger. Here's what we tried.

Marilyn Monroe is a fan of Latin Burger.

Quesadillas come in several flavors, including pulled pork, beef, and mushroom. We tried the chickn' tomatillo ($6 to $8), served with house-made chips.

Fish taco, served Baja-style ($3.70).

Burritos are stuffed with rice, beans, and your choice of meat and then pressed on the grill. Fish and mushroom versions are also available ($8).

Named Miami New Times' Best Burger, the Latin Macho still satisfies ($9).

If you recognize this crew, it's because they've been serving you on the trucks for the past few years.
