John's Tacos is popping up in Wynwood for Art Basel. John O'Connell, who takes over the Josh's Deli space evenings from 6 p.m.-midnight, is bringing his tacos south for Art Basel. O'Connell said that he decided to open a temporary space during Basel because "pop-ups seem to be very fashionable these days."
The John's Tacos pop-up will be located at the home of BeeFree Media at 2312 N. Miami Ave., serving a selection of tacos, beer, wine, margaritas, and a specialty cocktail from December 3-8 so hungry gallerinas can eat well.
Selections include crusted mahi-mahi with vegetable slaw and chipotle aioli; chicken tinga with goat cheese and pickled onion; and adobo-rubbed skirt steak with cress cotija cheese and sala roja. Chips and dips will be available, as well as a selection of beer, wine, margaritas and a specialty cocktail featuring Miami Club rum (distilled in Wynwood).
The menu is still being finalized but the prices will be "affordable."
If you live or work closer to Wynwood than Surfside, get used to eating well, because O'Connell slipped that John's Tacos will open permanently in Wynwood in January. More info soon!
