It has been argued that Coconut Grove doesn't hold the sophistication of some of other Miami neighborhoods. True, it doesn't host a bevy of celebrity chefs and most residents prefer flip flops to Dolce & Gabbana stilettos. But what Coconut Grove has over many parts of Miami is a strong home town flavor and an insane sense of humor.
Take, for example, Coconut Grove's annual Labor Day weekend event, the Great Grove Bed Race held Sunday, September 2, at 2 p.m. where local merchants race beds-on-wheels through the streets of Coconut Grove while thousands of residents (usually with beer in hand) cheer on the mobile mattresses. Or, the event we're most interested in....the Saturday night Pajama Party Pub Crawl.
That's right, folks. It's time to let everyone know that you actually own a pair of Toy Story footsie pajamas.
Grab your PJs and plan for a night of beer and fun in the most
comfortable outfit imaginable. The Pajama Party Pub Crawl is $15 in
advance ($25 at the door) and is limited to only 300 participants.
Purchase advance tickets at Barracuda Raw Bar & Grill any time from now until
registration to take advantage of the discount or send an email to
[email protected] for group registration and information.
During
the course of the night, you'll visit eight different Coconut Grove
bars, each offering you a free beer or well drink and various drink
specials. Here's the schedule:
- 6 - 8 p.m. Sandbar (registration)
- 8 - 9 p.m. Grove Spot
- 9 - 10 p.m. Fat Tuesday
- 10 - 11 p.m. The Goose
- 11 p.m. - 12 a.m. Mr. Frog's
- 12 - 1 a.m. Barracuda Raw Bar & Grill
- 1 - 2 a.m. The Tavern in the Grove
- 2 a.m. Mr. Moe's
Best part of all? After all this pubbing, you'll already be dressed to crawl into bed ... only, come Sunday, your bed will have wheels.
