Drexel Irish Pub
1463 Drexel Ave., Miami Beach
305-381-6651
It's been a success on South Miami Avenue, and now Brickell Irish Pub, which was voted Best New Bar/South in our recent "Best of Miami" issue, is set to debut a sister spot just off Española Way in South Beach. The address is on Drexel Avenue, so the new place is aptly called Drexel Irish Pub.
Executive chef Alex Martinez's menu includes snacks and starters such as hand-cut Celtic chips tossed in a feta cheese sauce with truffle oil, garlic, rosemary, and sea salt ($7.95); three beef sliders topped with Jameson Irish Whiskey, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, and herbed-aioli on a white challah bun ($6.95); and Danny Boy's Wings tossed in a chipotle-Buffalo or Guinness-barbecue sauce and served with red cabbage slaw and blue cheese sauce ($7.99 for ten, $12.25 for 15, $18.99 for 25, and $36.99 for 50). There are likewise salads, light fare, sandwiches, and entrées such as Guinness-barbecue-glazed baby-back ribs ($13.95 for a half-rack, $17.95 for a full) and oven-baked shepherd's pie with braised lamb, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and melted cheddar cheese ($14.95).
Pints of beer are priced at $7.50 each, and brew-based cocktails, getting mighty popular these days, will also be poured — such as the Snakebite (beer and apple cider); Moleca Stout (Moleca cachaça, Guinness, fresh lime, mint, and sugar); and the Red Eye (beer and tomato juice with Tabasco and Worcestershire sauces).
The interior is cherry wood-paneled with pressed tin ceilings and heavy mahogany tables — plus eight large flat-screen TV sets strategically placed so that no matter where you are seated, your authentic old-timey pub ambiance is ruined. Maybe the landscaped outdoor patio is the way to go.
Vida & Estilio, the restaurant group behind these two local pubs, also owns and operates Segafredo Brickell, Spazio Nero, Segafredo Bal Harbour, Segafredo Española Way, OH! Mexico, Café Nuvo, La Cantina Sports Bar, and Mojitos Lounge.
The official grand opening for Drexel Irish Pub is set for Wednesday, July 14.
