Donate Food for the Holidays at Camillus House, Miami Rescue Mission, and More
As the holiday season heads into overdrive, most of us are overwhelmed with excess in our lives, from gluttonous amounts of food to piles of presents to a flood of party invites. But not everyone is so lucky.
As we bemoan our annual overeating, there are people facing hunger right here in our own backyard. So in the spirit of the season, here are some places where you can donate your extra food before the holiday. Isn't giving what Christmas is all about?

1603 NW Seventh Ave, (305) 374-1065
Hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The donation drop off area is located in the covered garage on 15th street. At the gate dial #001 for the guard house to allow access. There's a sign on the first floor to the right saying Donation Drop-Off.
Items most needed: canned goods of all kinds. (On a non-food related note, they also have an immediate need for men's clothes and shoes.)

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Items most needed: canned vegetables, boxed cereal, stuffing, canned fruit, canned meat, instant potatoes, coffee, baby formula, rice, dry milk, and sugar.
Items most needed: Peanut butter, cereal (hot and cold), pasta, rice, beans, canned vegetables, canned meals, canned soups, canned tuna and meat, and fruit cups.
