Choices Vegan Cafe to Open Outpost on the Upper Eastside
Miami's vegan eating scene is about to get a bit bigger.
The diminutive but delicious Choices Cafe in the Roads is ready to open a larger location on the Upper Eastside.
The new spot will also serve beer and wine, a step up from their current locale.
"We're so excited! It's a much more spacious environment and we're going to have a beer and wine license there," says Lori Zito, senior director for the restaurant.
Initially, the menu will be the same as the one at the other location, but with beer and wine. Down the line, though, they might expand into pizzas, vegan sushi, and a larger selection of baked goods.
The spot was previously a bakery that was very well taken care of, Zito says.
As far as the atmosphere, it'll provide the same comfy, hipster-esque vibe the current locale offers -- with some added perks including patio and bar seating.
"We'll be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, and we'll probably be expanding to at least 10 p.m." Zito says.
They might even stay open later on the weekends, depending upon customer demand.
Their shiny new address is 646 NE 79th St. The new location already has a Facebook page, so you can follow their progress. The digs are scheduled to open January 15 -- which is perfect timing for keeping your New Year's resolution to eat more healthfully.
