Each meal includes turkey, green-bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, bread rolls, stuffing, cranberry-orange relish, a gallon of iced tea, and pumpkin pie. It sounds better than what my mother usually p

  • Alonzo Mourning Retires

Alonzo Mourning, one of the Heat's most celebrated franchise players, announced his retirement today, rather than attempt a comeback after a devastating leg injury in 2007. "I truly feel it's best that I retire," Mourning said at a news conference. "When you've got something you love and you're passionate about, it's hard to let that go. But at 38 I feel I've physically done all I can for this game. It has been an amazing ride." Mourning had two stints with the heat. The first from 1995-2001, a

Imagine it. Every year, hundreds of parents in North Miami kiss their daughters goodbye as they're decked out in their finest sparkly pink minidresses and heading to their first prom, and then the mothers smirk: "Have fun at your Janet Reno dance party.""What are you talking about, Mom? Why do you have to be so weird? Why do you always have to embarrass me in front of my friends? I hate my life.""Settle down. It was a thing on Saturday Night Live, with Will Ferrell. This week, New Times publishes "Dwyane's Disaster," a cover story about Dwyane Wade's catastrophic partnership with Richard von Houtman, a British baron with a sordid past. Von Houtman has been making wild allegations about the Heat superstar's personal life since their business relationship dissolved. Two weeks after Wade responded by filing a libel lawsuit in Miami-Dade County, I sat down with him at the Overtown Youth Center, where he and Alonzo Mourning were promoting the annual charity ev
