So here's a good excuse to visit Panther Coffee around lunchtime. The Wynwood and Sunset Harbour locations now offer sandwiches by Zak the Baker. Zak Stern, the artisan behind Miami's best sourdough, is slicing up his crusty loaves and stuffing them with fresh ingredients like avocado and black bean hummus.

The best part: You no longer have to slice his bread yourself. Because, seriously, slicing fresh artisanal bread is difficult.

But also: These sandwiches are tasty and cost only $8.

On a recent Panther run, I noticed the coffee shop stocked Zak the Baker's black bean hummus sandwich on multigrain sourdough with avocado, tomato, and greens -- a great sandwich for vegetarians and omnivores alike. There was also a smoked salmon variety on Jewish rye with cream cheese and sprouts.

Other sandwiches for the summer include goat cheese with sun-dried tomatoes on multigrain, fresh mozzarella and pesto on sesame, and tuna salad with sprouts on walnut and cranberry sourdough.

"Our goal is to create fresh, local, and affordable sandwiches that are accessible and high-quality," Stern says.

The sandwich schedule is tailored to his daily bread schedule, which means multigrain is available Tuesday through Sunday; sesame and walnut and cranberry are offered Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday; and Jewish rye is ready Wednesday and Friday.
