First, choose from seven types of noodles. Then, choose from 15 sauces. And finally choose an add-on if you'd like one. Sound gimmicky? Perhaps, but despite the concept this North Miami restaurant serves tasty bowls of pasta.

Yes Pasta! is located in a shopping plaza on Biscayne Boulevard, nestled between Lime and YogenFruz. The airy dining room has an unfinished floor, wood tables, aqua blue furniture and wall shelves lined with wines, Italian olive oils and books.

Italian owner Flaminia Morin says she wanted people to eat as they would in a home in Italy. All sauces and pastas are prepared in-house using Italian products and fresh ingredients. Whole wheat and gluten-free pastas are also available.

Pasta dishes range from $8 to $13 and sauce choices include Flaminia (creamy yellow bell pepper with black pepper), funghi & tartufi (wild mushrooms with creamy truffle) and vongole (baby clams, garlic, white wine, fresh italian parsley, fresh crushed chili pepper). On the menu you'll also find paninis, salads, cheese and charcuterie plates and mozzarella with your choice of sides.

We tried the capellini with gamberi and asparagi ($13) - shrimp, asparagus and cherry tomatoes coated in garlicky olive oil. For lunch, an order of half pasta, half salad was a reasonable $9.50 but the tiny side salad didn't add much to the meal. Still, the half bowl of homey pasta hit the spot.
