The beer scene in Miami has come a long way from even a year ago. 2012 saw an influx of craft brews coming to Miami including some local love in the way of Michael's Genuine Home Brew and Schnebly's fruit-infused beers.
We've also seen a surge in beer-related festivals in the Miami area. Grovetoberfest celebrated its second year, with both large breweries and independent home brewers featured side by side, and South Florida Beer Week is in full swing, with events all over Miami.
Coming up is the launch of a new spring break-themed festival in Coconut Grove. On March 9, Sprung comes to Peacock Park from 4 to 7 p.m., with a host of brews, games, entertainment, and fun in the sun.
We asked organizer Tony Albelo, who also organizes Grovetoberfest, why he's excited about Sprung. "Grovetoberfest is all about celebrating the fall beers, but there are also a lot of exciting, lighter brews launched in the spring that we can't sample there. People who come to Sprung will have the opportunity to try these other beers, while enjoying friends, fun, and some great entertainment."
