Miami loves its food trucks. Whether we catch one on the side of the road for a lunchtime snack or head to a roundup to eat our way through several dozen offerings, we're sweet on all the goodness coming from those mobile munch units.
But which truck is the best in all of our fair city?
That's the question Magic City Casino will answer this Saturday, January 5, at 7 p.m., when eight food trucks will battle for the title of Ultimate Food Truck.
The trucks, which were chosen through public voting on the Ultimate Miami website in late 2012, will be tasked with cooking for a panel of judges, who will determine the winner. The trucks, which will also serve food to Ultimate Food Truck guests, are as follows:
- B.C. Tacos
- Che Grill
- Crazydilla
- Cuban Cube
- Food Junkie on Wheels
- Ms. Cheezious
- Palate Party
- The Health Nut on Wheels
After the competition, a live concert featuring Sean Kingston and Shaggy will begin at 9 p.m. It requires an additional ticket.
General admission tickets for the Ultimate Miami Food Truck competition cost $40, which includes two food items from your choice of trucks, a nonalcoholic beverage, and 25 percent off additional items from each food truck.
Special VIP packages are $75 and include entrance to the Ultimate Miami Food Truck competition (along with the above-mentioned food and drink tickets) and reserved seating at the concert. Tickets are available here.
Because we know how much you love their food trucks and music, Short Order is giving away five pairs of VIP tickets -- which gets you tickets to both the competition and concert! Just "friend" Short Order on Facebook and post which food truck you think will win and why. The best five answers posted by noon tomorrow will win the tickets. Winners will be notified via Facebook and email and will have to pick up the tickets at our offices by 5 p.m. Friday, January 4.
