There are thousands of comestibles and cooking gadgets on the market, but you would think most chefs have just about every conceivable piece of equipment they might possibly want -- and we know they have access to all sorts of foods. But it turns out that there are vacancies on every chef's wish list. Some are exotic (The Smoking Gun by Polyscience); most are pretty simple (Braun Cordless Hand Blender).

The question I posed to seven esteemed local chefs is this: What food or kitchen related gift would you most like to receive for Christmas?

Michelle Bernstein, Michy's, Sra. Martinez, Crumb on Parchment, etc.
Gastrovac is my dream piece of equipment! Doubt I'll get one any day soon but I really want it.

Oscar del Rivero, Jaguar Hospitality Group (Jaguar, Talavera, Peacock Garden Cafe)
I'm hoping to receive a Himalayan Salt Block to add to my kitchen.

Richard Hales, Sakaya Kitchen, Dim Ssam a Gogo, etc.
I love to receive olive oil picked up in Italy and brought over. It always has the vintage and just tastes better.

E. Michael Reidt, Area 31
Braun Cordless Hand Blender.

Giorgio Rapicavoli, 660 at The Angler's
This Christmas I'm asking for The Smoking Gun by Polyscience...It's a hand-held smoker that lets you smoke foods after they've been cooked...the possibilities are endless: butter, cheese, fruits, raw meats, fish, maybe even ice creams.

Douglas Rodriguez, De Rodriguez on Ocean
I would love to get the new collection of La Chamba Potware for Christmas! I love the full line of black clay pots -- they're made exclusively in Colombia and I need to replace a few.

Jeff McInnis, Yardbird:
A Blendtec blender.
