An explosion of pink, Tutu & Spice is the girliest place on the planet. The store, as you might have guessed, sells tutus, cupcakes, and other pink, sugary delights.
Owner Melissa Spice (yes, that's her real name) was making and selling handmade tutus on the Internet when at the ripe old age of 20 (she's now 21), she opened a tutu store in Miami.
Then she decided to capitalize on the lack of cupcakes in the neighborhood by making batches to sell at the store. The result was a feeding frenzy by the local office workers, who swarm down every morning to snatch up her baked treats.
Flavors vary daily but include red velvet, vanilla, and pink velvet. Melissa also makes and sells cake pops. All cupcakes and cake pops contain no artificial colors (the red velvet is colored with cherry juice), and at $1 apiece, the cupcakes fly off the shelves. Melissa will also custom-make and deliver cupcakes for parties or gatherings to businesses in the downtown Miami area.Tutu & Spice also offers tea parties for groups of up to 12 girls. For $275 per group, each little girl gets a tutu to decorate while enjoying cupcakes and tea.
As for the tutus: They come in every size (from Chihuahua to adult male) and color (from ballerina pink to neon colors for raves), but the store's main focus is little girls who want to be princesses and ballerinas. Prices range from $16.99 to $20 for a standard girl's tutu and are priced upward for adult and custom pieces. Headpieces, tiaras, wings, and wands are sold separately.
