It's that time of year when our favorite group of gastronomic gals gets together for an annual fundraising brunch. We're talking about the Miami Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International and the Tropical Brunch in the Redlands that takes place this Sunday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Schnebly Redland's Winery (30205 SW 217th Ave., Homestead; 305-242-1224).
Food served will include salads made of greens from the local fields, omelets and quiches prepared with farm-fresh eggs, ceviches and seafood made with fish from local waters, hand-carved ham, fruit breads using fruit from local trees, and local tropical ice creams made with honey squeezed from the very local bees that you will have swatted at just minutes earlier. Tropical fruit wines from host Schnebly can be sipped while strolling the grounds of the winery or at shaded picnic tables.
One of the unofficial aims of the day is to drink enough wine until you can no longer pronounce Schnebly.
Tickets cost $35 for adults and $15 for children. The money will be donated to food, beverage, and hospitality industry student scholarships for les culinary dames of the future.
