At one point during his career, Tim Powers simultaneously controlled six restaurants rated in the Top 10 for both Zagat and Harden's London Restaurant Guide. Two of these, The Ivy and Le Caprice, held either the number one or number two  spot for more than 12 years. Powers is now a partner in The Ivy at The Grove, which opened its doors this past week, but this Ivy Grove is not affiliated with The Ivy in London.

The menu promises "a unique blend of modern American and British comfort food - including a superbly rich and decadent dessert menu." The grand three-story building, which you may recognize as the former Christabelle's Quarter, is like its predecessor divided into a more casual ground floor and finer-dining first floor. Now located on the top level is Raffles Private Membership Club, which is an affiliate of London's famous Raffles Chelsea (which boasts both Prince William and Prince Harry as regular habitués). Powers partner in the venture is international financier William Gerhauser, son of the former head of Playboy Casinos London.

Power and Gerhauser are going to need every bit of their experience and savvy to tackle this monster. We wish them luck.
