The other day, we walked into the Daily around 5:30 p.m. to grab a sandwich to go before closing time and were instantly assaulted by signs announcing that the Omni-area eatery was now serving dinner Monday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. It piqued our interest enough that we decided to stay and try the dinner menu.

The menu features some basic appetizers, such as hummus, but we opted to order an entrée. As lovers of loaf in the meat variety (there is just something so comforting about it), we chose the meat loaf with mashed potatoes and spinach. Keep in mind that in addition to the dinner menu, all the sandwiches and paninis you know and love are available as well.

Service was quick for an entrée -- ten minutes, tops. The verdict: We wish we had ordered a sandwich. The meat loaf was too salty for our taste, and the texture was gritty (even the bacon didn't improve things), while the potatoes were too bland. Also, the moisture from the spinach wasn't squeezed out, so a radioactive-looking green liquid pooled around the mash. The dinner, with a medium lemonade, came to $14.23, which is more than we'd ever really like to spend for a meal at the Daily.

We can't comment about the rest of the entrées (appetizers are around $6, entrées range from $6 to $12) because we haven't tried them, but the menu includes seared tuna, mac 'n' cheese, and lechón. Then again, the plus side is that you can still order a sandwich, and for that we are very grateful.
