Lunch is your afternoon delight, your hump meal, the moment that sets the tone for the second half of your day.

It's not something that should be taken lightly or skipped. And most important, during the workweek, it should never cost more than $10.

What follows are the top ten lunch specials in Miami, so you can keep your stomach full and your wallet a little fatter.

10. Cane a Sucre

This North Miami lunch spot serves the Holy Trinity of lunch -- sandwiches, salads and soups -- with nearly all selections under $10. One of the best deals is the lunch special: half of any sandwich and soup of the day for just $6.50. Le Fig, with Gorgonzola cheese, fig confit, fresh oregano, walnuts, and a drizzle of honey on a warm baguette is a sandwich standout. With a fresh baguette, you can never go wrong.

9. Bo Legs BBQ

At Bo Legs BBQ, the weekday lunch special features barbecue classics for reduced prices -- $5 for chicken and $7 for ribs. The hot jerk chicken -- you can request it mild -- comes sandwiched between thick slices of white bread. The meat is delectable in its own right, but the sauce at Bo's is boss, so slather it on. The bottom slice of bread offers the foundation to sop it all up.

8. Go-Go Fresh Food

For some of the freshest and most reasonably priced food in South Beach, check out Go-Go Fresh on Alton Road. Offerings include big salads, mini salads, soups, and the popular Go-Go pies, AKA empanadas. Our favorite is the mini shrimp salad ($6.70), prepared with steamed shrimp, green peas, palm hearts, mixed greens, and a cilantro-lime dressing.

7. JR's Gourmet Burgers

One of our favorite burgers in Miami is the Outside Is In ($7.50) burger at JR's Gourmet Burgers -- with bacon and cheddar stuffed inside the patty. It's flavorful, moist, and packed with the most awesome stuffing. Order some fries to go along since you're under budget. If not, feel free to upgrade to a half-pound patty ($8.75) for an extra buck and a quarter.

6. Cheen-Huaye

At this North Miami Mexican spot, the lunch menu is served Monday through Friday until 4 p.m., and the majority of entrées are under $10. One of our favorites is the burrito Maya ($7.95), featuring a tortilla filled with cochinita pibil (slow-roasted pork wrapped in banana leaves), beans, rice, and pickled onions.

5. Kouzina

At lunchtime, Kouzina offers a plethora of Greek delicacies. Chicken and pork wraps ($9) with tzatziki, tomatoes, and onions are served with fried potatoes and salad. There's also a special pita burger with feta ($9) that offers something a little different.

4. Kebab Indian Restaurant

Miami has a shortage of Indian food options, but at Kebab, you can have endless helpings of it during lunch. The weekday buffet ($9.95 per person) allows you to sample the menu to your stomach's content. Plus, there's an advantage to getting it all in one sitting. Last time we ordered takeout, we got a car full of spilled dal.

3. King's Palace Chinese BBQ

At King's Palace Chinese BBQ, lunch specials ($8.50 to $8.95) are served Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and come with an egg roll and roast pork fried rice. Because the place specializes in barbecue, we normally order the roast pork strips ($8.95) as an entrée.

2. Buena Vista Deli

Quiches might very well be the key to a good life. Buena Vista serves the classic quiche Lorraine, a leek quiche, and, one of our favorites, a goat cheese and mushroom variety ($4.95). For a full lunch, try the quiche combo ($7.95) -- a quiche paired with a salad.

1. Little Havana Restaurant

Drive past Little Havana Restaurant and you'll see a sign promoting weekday lunch specials starting at $5.99. Nothing on the lunch menu costs more than $10. The Little Havana steak ($8.99) comes with rice and beans, plantains, and the most addictive chimichurri. Bonus: The steak is so large it hangs off the plate.
