Miami's best-loved activities -- pork, libations, and music -- come together at the inaugural Swig n' Swine this Sunday, December 7, at Freehand Miami.
From 3 to 8 p.m., the sister event of the Tales of the Cocktail soirée Pig & Punch New Orleans will feature exactly what the name implies -- lots of pork and overflowing cups of boozy punch set to a soundtrack by Mia Moretti and Myles Hendrik. If you haven't been to a Pig & Punch, know that it's kind of like a really good family picnic -- if your family members happened to bring barrels of booze and were top chefs.

The event -- hosted by the Bon Vivants, cofounded by Josh Harris and Scott Baird from the San Francisco bar Trick Dog, and Esquire in partnership with Imbibe -- is a charity barbecue that features meaty dishes, sides, and desserts prepared by some of Miami's best chefs, including Baird, Danny Grant (50 Eggs), Jose Mendin (Pubbelly), and Michael Pirolo (Macchialina).
Bob Vivants' Harris is excited to introduce South Beach to his punch-and-pork party, saying, "We love Miami and can't wait to bring Swig n' Swine to the Beach. We are especially excited for Art Basel and the opportunity to welcome the local community and visitors from around the world. As always, we're looking forward not only to hosting a great party with our friends at the Broken Shaker, but to getting involved and giving back."
In addition, there will be punch made with spirits provided by Swig n' Swine sponsors such as Don Q, Don Julio, Absolut, Plymouth, Jameson, Dewar's, St-Germain, Lyxardo, Ancho Reyes, Mandarine Napoleon, Sybar, Kahlúa, Becherovka, Pernod Absinthe, and Perrier-Jouët. These potent punches will be scooped from giant barrels and served for your imbibing pleasure.
A $30 ticket, purchased at the door, gets you unlimited food and drink plus a limited-edition Swig n' Swine tank top. All proceeds and additional donations will go to Miami's Overtown Youth Center, whose mission is to engage children in educational and recreational activities that promote their physical, cognitive, motor, social, and emotional development.
Through its flagship Pig & Punch and other events across the country, the Bon Vivants have raised $135,844 for local charities and have coordinated 5,189 hours of volunteer work during the volunteer days associated with the events.
