Miami likes its sushi like its women - sleek and sexy. Hence the popularity of Sushi Sake, a rapidly expanding South Florida sushi empire that just opened its seventh location.

This chic local chain is known for late-night hours, an expansive menu and a dramatic, lounge-inspired atmosphere.

The newest branch is located in the Hammocks, and its creation was prompted primarily by customer requests. "There was such a high demand for it," says operating manager Jose Guerrero. "It's the first time we listened to our guests. Everything just aligned perfectly and at the right time."

Each outpost of the rapidly growing Asian chain features bold, red, black and white décor accented with Japanese-inspired props, waterfalls and sparkling chandeliers. Black granite tabletops, Buddhas and VIP seating add to the mod, Eastern feel. "We're not your typical sushi bar," Guerrero says. "We're modern, chic and very Miami."

A vast assortment of unique sushi rolls, including edible nods to the Miami Heat, the Marlins and the Dolphins, mark the chain's menus. They also, as you might imagine, boast an extensive sake selection.

While each locale's menu is identical, they all feature different specials created by the chef in residence. Greg Tejera and Mario Arguello serve as sushi chef and chef, respectively, at the Hammocks location. They're currently featuring the "Daniella" roll, made with shrimp tempura, cream cheese and cilantro and topped with spicy salmon, avocado, tempura crunch and a hint of eel sauce.

They've already been getting thanks from customers at the new branch, Guerrero says. "They wanted to have a nice place where they could go to dine, relax and have sake and wine, as well as delivery and takeout."

The restaurant's other locations include Bird Road, Doral, Country Walk, Brickell, North Miami Beach and Sheridan.

The new outpost is located at 14649 SW 104th Street in the Hammocks, and will will serve lunch and dinner. Their hours are 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 5 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Delivery and take out are also available.
