Chef Michelle Bernstein has upped the ante on her brunch at Sra. Martinez with more than a dozen new menu items, plus cocktails.

Brunch is one of the few times people feel free to enjoy an alcoholic beverage before the sun goes down, but the choices are usually slim -- bloody marys, mimosas, and screwdrivers. Sra. Martinez beverage director Julio Cabrera has developed an entire cocktail menu designed to be paired with the restaurant's plates, such as the matador (muddled strawberries and jalapeños with vodka), the Buena Vista (Hendrick's gin, cucumber, and St. Germaine), and a bubbly mojito topped with cava. Cocktails are priced from $7 to $13.

New menu offerings include lobster hash ($17), house-made pancakes with crema catalana ($12), shrimp tiradito topped with popcorn ($21), and a rustic omelet with wilted greens and mushrooms ($11).

The restaurant's tapas theme works well for brunchgoers, with a host of sharable items such as bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with blue cheese ($9), egg yolk carpaccio ($13), and tortilla española with chorizo ($6).

Choclo con chiles ($9) is a sharable plate of sweet Homestead corn seasoned with lime and chilies.

Croquetas de jamón ($5) are filled with Manchego and served on a bed of fig jam.

Huevos Benedicto ($14) is a Miami-style take on the traditional eggs Benedict. Poached eggs and pork belly are served on Cuban bread and topped with a tart mojo hollandaise.

Egg yolk carpaccio ($13) comprises slow-cooked egg yolks pooled beneath a mound of shoestring potatoes and shrimp. The stack is smashed and mixed tableside.

Torrejas ($6) are rum-soaked bananas served over fried bread and topped with ice cream.
