Yep, it's official. Miami-Dade's first craft brewery, Schnebly Miami Brewing Company, now has a tap at LoKal Burgers & Beer in Coconut Grove. No longer will Schnebly's exotic craft beers be confined to the outer limits of Miami.

Schnebly, also known as Schnebly Redland's Winery and Brewery, currently makes four beers: Big Rod Key West Ale, Redland IPA, Shark Attack (a mango-flavored wheat beer), and Gator Tail Ale. The one on tap at LoKal is Big Rod. Pints are $8.

Schnebly has been making beer since last year, but it was brewed offsite until March, when the owners built their own equipment.

They already have their Florida manufacturer/brewer of malt beverages license (CMB), which allows them to sell their own beer wholesale.

Last Friday, they delivered two kegs. Not the small kegs -- the big ones. Joe Reyes, Schnebly's marketing director, designed the tap handle, which is temporary until a more artistic handle is carved. It'll be a girl holding a fishing pole while sitting on a fighting chair.

Why LoKal? Because Schnebly and LoKal are bros in the Miami craft beer market. "We realy like LoKal, have a great relationship with them," Reyes says. "It's something that we've talked about in the past."

Schnebly first considered a tap at Capri Restaurant in Homestead but decided to go with LoKal. The farm brewery has gained a local following since it began brewing last summer. Big Rod is its most popular beer. Reyes says they are considering Gator Tail for their next tap release.

"Big Rod is a beer that we are happy to introduce to the craft beer market here in South Florida," Reyes says. "We are considered the crafters of the most exotic wines and beers in the world. There is no one else."
