Miami Spice starts August 1 and for two months diners will be able to choose from about 150 restaurants participating in this promotion. So how does a restaurant catch the eye of discerning restaurant-goers in that sea of options? A promotion on top of the promotion.

Three of Miami's favorite casual eateries have pooled their resources to offer a special "Passport Through Spice" program.

Enjoy a Miami Spice lunch or dinner at Peacock Garden Cafe, Talavera Cocina Mexicana, and Jaguar Ceviche Spoon Bar and Latam Grill will receive a complimentary $25 gift card that can be used at any of the restaurants for a later meal. The card is valid for up to 90 days after receipt and guests must have a special passport stamped by all three restaurants (just ask for one upon your first restaurant visit). All three restaurants offer Miami Spice prix-fixe menus seven days a week for both lunch and dinner. Spice lunches are $19 per person, and Spice dinners are $33 per person.

Whether you choose lunch or dinner, each restaurant offers a good value. Here are some Spice highlights:

Jaguar Ceviche Spoon Bar and Latam Grill offers a three-spoon ceviche appetizer as part of both their lunch and dinner Spice menu (there's also a crab cake option). Lunch entrees include a choice of Mexican tortilla lasagna or shrimp fried rice. For dinner, choose lomo saltado (beef tenderloin strips with potatoes and red onion) or moqueca de camaron (large sauteed shrimp cooked with tomatoes and coconut milk). For dessert there's flan de queso at lunchtine, banana crepes at dinner.

Lunchtime Spice at Peacock Garden Cafe gives diners a choice of corvina ceviche or spinach and three-cheese dip for starters. Choose from chicken pot pie, fetuccini and garden mushrooms, or grilled mahi with salsa verde for an entree. Follow it up with Veronica's bread pudding for dessert.

Dinner at Peacock Garden offers tuna tartar or crab cake for an appetizer. Pan roasted chicken, Charlie's shepard's pie casserole, or seared salmon are entree choices, followed by a chocolate lovers torte for dessert.

Talavera Cocina Mexicana's lunch offers huarachitos de pico de gallo verde y rojo to start with (grilled masa cakes filled with salsas and served with a shot of shrimp broth). Choose between a chuleta enchilada com nopales (thinly pounded pork chop wit a red chile rub) or mole Don Vincente (chicken breast with mole over rice). A Mexican-style crepe is a sweet ending.

Talavera's dinner starts with huarachitos de cochinita pibil y shrimp a la talla (grilled masa cakes filled with pork and shrimp. Entree choices include huachinago en salsa verde (fresh snapper with green sauce) or beef tenderloin Don Guillermo.  Cajeta cheesecake finishes off your evening.
