When is the best time to open an art museum in Miami? Basel, of course. So it makes perfect sense that today is the grand opening for the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM).

But it's not all art and games -- there's food, too. Starr Restaurants and Events, the folks behind Buddakan, Morimoto, and Makoto, are launching their latest venture, Verde Restaurant and Bar.

The waterfront indoor and outdoor spaces can serve up to 104 guests. It was all designed by Herzog & De Meuron, the architects behind the 29-acre PAMM. Pendant lighting, wood tables, nude color banquettes, and green hues create a soft and earthy feel. Coined as a bistro, the concept is simple and straightforward -- it offers bold, fresh dishes that personify Miami's tropical influences.

The menu offers seafood-heavy appetizers and entrees. Choose from ceviche, charred octopus, sashimi, hamachi, pink snapper, gulf shrimp, or grilled mahi mahi.

If you're not feeling fishy, there's also house-made burrata, heirloom tomato tartare, flatbreads, pressed sandwiches, and artisan cheeses. With this crisp weather, you might also want to try the sweet corn and jumbo lump crab soup. Keeping with the Miami theme, Verde offers desserts like cane sugar donuts with Cuban coffee dip and flan.

Prices range between $7 to $8 for raw selections, soup, salads, flatbreads and pizzas, and $15 to 22 for entrees. Museum members receive 10 percent off all meals.

Verde offers a full bar, including tropical cocktails like guava margarita, passion fruit caipiroska, and blood orange mimosa.

In upcoming months, the restaurant will also be hosting pop-up chef tastings with prix fixe menus.

Verde is open for lunch all week and dinner Thursday nights for PAMM's education events and regular social programming.
