We've all been there. You just got home from a lousy day at work and you're still drunk from happy hour. You crash on the couch, switch on some mindless TV show, and then realize: You need cookies. Now.

Enter Night Owl Cookie Co. -- Miami's first late-night munchies delivery service. Started by local college student Andrew Gonzalez, Night Owl Cookie delivers fresh-baked cookies and milk straight to your door from noon until 2 a.m.

The menu features 25 different flavors, including the sweet n' salty cookie with chocolate chunks, salted caramel, and chopped pretzels. There's also the cheesecake cookie -- cream cheese cookie dough mixed with graham cracker crumbs and white chocolate chips, drizzled with a cream cheese glaze.

Just in time for Thanksgiving, cookie monsters can even pre-order Night Owl's pumpkin cheesecake cookie -- a chocolate chip variety with pumpkin purée, cheesecake filling, and graham cracker crumbs.

Short Order spoke with Gonzalez about the delivery business, late-night munchies, and his favorite cookie.

Short Order: What's the story behind Night Owl Cookie?

Andrew Gonzalez: I founded Night Owl in 2012 when I was a sophomore in college. I would stay up late studying for exams and would always get hungry for something sweet. The problem was that my fridge was constantly empty (college student problems) and every restaurant and fast food joint near my house would be closed. I knew I couldn't be the only person feeling this way and that's when I came up with the idea of Night Owl Cookie Co.

Why do you think Miami needs a cookie delivery service?

Miami is one of the top cities in the nation when it comes down to partying and knowing how to have a good time. With three major college institutions and hundreds of clubs and bars, starting up Night Owl in Miami was a no brainer.

Who are the typical Night Owl Cookie customers?

We literally get orders from all ages. Although our typical customers tend to be college students studying for exams and twenty-something-year-olds having get-togethers drinking and recreational smoking ... cigarettes, that is. We also get lots of families and children who are just as addicted to our cookies. And with good reason, once you bite into one, no other cookie will ever taste the same.

What's your all-time favorite cookie?

That's a really tough question. All 25 flavors are so good it's difficult to just choose one, but it's probably a tie between the sweet n' salty cookie and the s'mores.

What's next for Night Owl Cookie?

We're currently searching for our first storefront that will feature a dine-in option. We want to be able to offer our Night Owls a late-night spot where they could hang out after partying and studying and just munch out on sweets.

We are also in talks to record an episode with one of our favorite foodies from the Food Network, as well as working with Macy's to provide culinary demonstrations for their customers. All in all, we are moving forward to make Night Owl Cookie Co. a household name.

Night Owl Cookies are $1.75 each and are baked fresh to order. For $2.99, you can also add milk to your order (choose from regular, chocolate, and fat-free). Check out the rest of the menu at nightowlcookieco.com.
