After at least a year and a half of delays due to struggles with permitting, N by NAOE, Kevin Cory's follow up to his striking, 12-seat omakase restaurant that in 2012 moved from Sunny Isles to Brickell Key is now open next door to his lauded restaurant.

What N is, however, couldn't be more opaque. Cory didn't reply to messages yesterday but, according to the restaurant's OpenTable listing, they're serving an $80 prix-fixe menu.

"We cannot accommodate allergies to mushrooms, eggs, fish, shellfish, rice, raw, vinegar, alcohol, salt, sugar, legumes, or gluten," it says, so perhaps we can expect offerings similar to the ever-changing bento box that begins each meal at NAOE.

Past offerings have included chawanmushi, a savory Japanese custard, house-made tofu with uni sauce, rice studded with sake-pickled pears, and fluke sashimi.

For the moment, NAOE is open only during lunch, though a dinner service may launch at some point in the future. That, however, seems unlikely as chef Cory is always the one cutting the sushi, grating the wasabi, and showing off the day's selections to guests.
