It's pretty obvious that Mooie's was created with children in mind. Outside the Miami Shores ice creamery, buckets of chalk allow the artistically inclined express themselves on the sidewalk. Small stools in front of the counter let little ones peer into the ice cream cooler. In the backyard, beanbags and games keep kids entertained. But adults will be just as happy indulging their inner child at the bright-colored ice cream shop and café.

"It's really something for everyone," owner Sean Saladino told Short Order, adding that aside from ice cream Mooie's sells very serious food. The menu designed by Saladino features sandwiches, paninis and gourmet salads using high-quality ingredients. Breads are baked in-house as are the desserts, cookies and cupcakes.

But it's the ice cream that got me to step inside.

Mooie's carries that rich, creamy Blue Bell ice cream and a slew of

toppings for you to add. I ordered a banana split, a childhood

favorite that I rarely order with the excuse that it's just too much ice cream for

one. I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed every little bit of it, guilt and all. On a second visit, the hot

fudge sundae and a slice of chocolate cake I shared hit the spot. Now I have to bring myself to ignore the ice cream and try some of the food.

Mooie's opens everyday at 11 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 p.m. on weekends.
