Finally, it's out today. We're talking about Michael Schwartz's cookbook, Michael's Genuine Food.

If the jacket is any indication, Schwartz can already count people like Emeril Lagasse, Gail Simmons, and Daniel Boulud as fans of his simple-looking but packed-with-flavor recipes. The James Beard Award-winning chef lays out simple instructions for everything from snacks to sandwiches to full-fledged entrees. Pastry chef Hedy Goldsmith also pops up around page 195 to dish out some sweet treats.

If you can't wait to get your hands of a copy, it's already available for sale at local stores like Books & Books or mega online retailers like Amazon (which though listed at $35, is selling for $19.52).

Or you can try to win yourself a signed copy, which we happen to have. Yes, it can be all yours if you are willing to play along with us.

Just answer the following question correctly in the comments below to enter:

What animal did Michael raise in his backyard in his early days of living on South Beach?

Of those who answer correctly, we'll choose one winner at random. Please make sure to submit your response with a valid email address so we can reach you. You have until this Thursday at midnight to answer. Winner will be announced Friday morning. Contest is closed! Congrats to our randomly chosen winner, Huskersbite, who correctly answered "chickens."
