Once again, we've lived through another workweek. With Friday comes a plethora of activities. As the weather cools, Miami heats up with happenings, openings, and parties.
This weekend, you can feast on Miami's favorite snack, sample as much beer as you want, and snag a free grilled cheese sandwich.
New Times' Beerfest
New Times' 18th-annual "Original" Beerfest, presented by Isle Casino, returns to downtown Fort Lauderdale's Esplanade Park this Saturday, October 10, with more than 100 beers to sample, including local favorites Funky Buddha, LauderAle Brewery, Legacy Caribbean Craft Brewery, Wynwood Brewing, and Miami Brewing Co. In addition to all the beer you can drink, you can watch the Miami Hurricanes take on the Florida State Seminoles at 8 p.m. in the ultimate watch-party area, and cheer on the Miss Beerfest contestants as they hoist and drink their way to victory. If you haven't gotten your Beerfest tickets, there's still time — but hurry, because VIP is already sold out.

Free Ms. Cheezious During Art Walk
The only thing better than a gooey grilled cheese sandwich is a free gooey grilled cheese sandwich. That's why Ms. Cheezious has partnered with global travel search site Skyscanner to offer free grilled cheese sammies. Just hop over to the Ms. Cheezious food truck, parked in the Wynwood Second Saturday Art Walk food truck lot at NW Second Avenue and 22nd Lane this Saturday, October 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. Simply ask for a grilled cheese combo, and it's yours free. You'll also have a chance to win two roundtrip airline tickets to anywhere in the domestic U.S. But remember — no matter where you roam, only Miami has Ms. Cheezious.
Freddo Helado Opens in Brickell
When Freddo Helado opened its first South Florida store on Lincoln Road a little less than a year ago, Miamians from Argentina were ecstatic to once again have their beloved treat. The gelato flavors are made from fresh, hormone-free milk, pure cane sugar, fruits, and other natural and raw ingredients in Argentina and shipped to Miami in climate-controlled conditions. That painstaking process and resulting creamy product won Freddo the title of Best Gelato 2015 from New Times. Now a second outpost has opened, at 1100 S. Miami Ave. in Brickell. The 1,000-square-foot store, located at the newly constructed 1100 Millecento building, also serves breakfast and lunch items, in case you want something more substantial than gelato. Freddo Gelato Brickell is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to midnight, Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
