Brickell has recently undergone a surge of incoming restaurants including Baby Jane, Zuuk Mediterranean Kitchen, Quinto la Huella, Bachour Bakery & Bistro, and Coyo Taco. Now locals and gourmands have another reason to visit Miami's ever-expanding financial district thanks to Miami Smokers' Andres Barrientos and James Bowers.

Just after their debut on Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives aired on Food Network, the partners and founders of the Little Havana smokehouse are starting a new project.

Starting Monday, June 13, a Miami Smokers Express pop-up will open at the former Sushi Maki location at 1000 S. Miami Ave. in Brickell.

According to the Miami Smokers website, the Brickell pop-up will remain open until mid-September. However, there is no set date on when they will be departing.

Located adjacent to Mary Brickell Village, Miami Smokers Express will seat roughly 50 people between indoor and outdoor seating. Barrientos said this concept would serve as a prelude to what people can expect from their market opening in the downtown Miami Central Station project. Fans from their flagship shop will be able to enjoy the same menu they grew to love.

Miami Smokers Express will also be working with neighbor Dolores But you Can Call Me Lolita on a tapas-style menu for their adjoining lounge including a croqueta made with Miami Smokers bacon and served with a guava gastrique.

The new appetizers will also be on the menu at Miami Smokers Express. Additions include a slider trio made from its popular sandwiches including the porcheta preparada, BBQ berk, and a Smokers frita (three of the same sliders are $9; an assortment of three is $10) and a Floridian meat board ($4 per meat, $3 per cheese). The smokehouse is also rolling out its version of charcuterie with Miami Smokers homemade sausages (one for $6, two for $11, and three for $15).

Barrientos and Bowers will also be paying respects to Miami by serving only local beer on three rotating taps. Bottled beers are sourced from Floridian breweries only.

Takeout will be available at the restaurant, with delivery through Postmates and Caviar.

Miami Smokers Express will be open Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight. Hours are subject to change.
