Miami Restaurant Openings & Closings, January 2012

​​​If January is any indication of things to come, 2012 will be a banner year for Miami dining. This past month saw the debuts of popular local haunts such as Blue Collar and Federal Food Drink & Provisions, as well as a new caviar lounge (The Dome Bar), Bianca at the Delano, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten's first entry into Florida via J & G Grill at the new St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort. Not too shabby.

Here then, a list of openings, a couple of closings, and a long lineup of projects yet to come.


Openings:
Bianca, Delano Hotel, Miami Beach. Opening party was last Thursday evening.
Bar Tanaka, Shelbourne Resort, 1801 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
Blue Collar, 6730 Biscayne Blvd., Miami
J & G Grill, 9703 Collins Ave., St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, Bal Harbour
Carmine's La Trattoria, The Palms at Town & Country, Kendall
Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar, 100 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
Lucy's Cantina Royale, Shelbourne Resort, 1801 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
Moloko, 3201 N. Miami Ave., Miami
Terrazza, Shore Club South Beach, 1901 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
The Dome Bar and Lounge, 271 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables
The Federal Food Drink & Provisions, 5132 Biscayne Blvd., Miami
Vesper, Shelbourne Resort, 1801 Collins Ave., Miami Beach (opened Dec. but we missed it)
Wine Vault, The Shops at Midtown

Closings:
Mai Tardi - Not closing until February 11, but it will be closing.
Vice Lounge - Another one bites the dust in the old Rumi/O Asian Grill space.
Village Cafe - The old Miami Shores standby is no longer standing by.

On Deck:
Bloom, scheduled for a Wynwood opening in March.
George's, the third installment of the French bistro.
Gloutonnerie, a French restaurant from Mexico, in the former Au Pied de Cochon space.
José Andrés Bazaar ... we're still waiting...
Milos Esitatorio, coming across the street from the Au Pied de Cochon space.
My Ceviche, a take-out/delivery place from Sam Gorenstein meant to give Joe's Stone Crab a run for its money.
Naoe, at the new location on Brickell Key.
Pizza Fiore, where the Village Cafe was in Miami Shores.
The Broken Shaker, a pop-up cocktail bar from the Bar Lab team.
The Eating House, a pop-up from Giorgio Rapicavoli and Alex Casanova.
That Michael Schwartz/Sam Gorenstein restaurant at The Raleigh.
