Summer in Miami is here and with the humidity and afternoon rains come a slowing in new restaurant openings. Most restaurants choose to wait until the end of the summer to open — giving them plenty of time for real-time training before the season returns. There are, of course, some exceptions — notably Tacocraft in South Miami and Bianchini Mercato in Wynwood.

The most surprising closings were the abrupt shuttering of Miami favorite Kings County Pizza and Tim Andriola's Basil Park. Three restaurants have also temporarily closed: Red Ginger, Apeiro Kitchen & Bar, and Soho Bay.

A number of highly anticipated restaurants are coming to Miami. Chef Michael Solomonov is bringing Federal Donuts to Wynwood, Michael Schwartz is opening Fi'lia at SLS Brickell, and José Andrés is bringing Bazaar Mar to SLS Brickell.
