Market manager Kristin Jayd notes that while the market is small (typically three to five farms are represented each week), the selection is bountiful and the food is as fresh as can be. "Most of the produce was on the plant this morning. It's fresher than anything else you'll get," Jayd explains.
All items are locally grown from Homestead-area farmers. Though the farms change, some are consistently at the market every Monday, including the following:
Bee Haven Farm, a certified organic farm, has a sister location in Punta Gorda, so it often has fresh citrus for sale.
Accursio & Sons Farm, owned by longtime local farmers, sells a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables including corn, strawberries, cabbage, tomatoes, and jalapeños.
Hani Khouri Organics offers goat products, including cheeses and ice cream. Mediterranean foods such as falafels and hummus are also offered at the market.
The market is open Mondays from 2 to 6 p.m. through the end of April. On April 25, there will be a community picnic to celebrate the market's last day of the season. Losner Park, 104 N. Krome Ave., Homestead
